The Brazilian Pink Tarantula is, true to its name, pink. These amazing tarantulas can make fascinating pets. Although some may become tame, many Brazilian Pink Tarantulas can be skittish. When alarmed, they may release their urticating hairs, which can irritate any skin coming into contact with them. To reduce stress, Brazilian Pink Tarantulas should have a hiding place. Many may weave webs around the entrances to their lairs. If allowed a deep and loose enough substrate, most Brazilian Pink Tarantulas will burrow. Many will also use a pre-made burrow to hide in. Like many animals, these tarantulas molt from time to time. By maturity, Brazilian Pink Tarantulas often reach three and one half inches (over eight centimeters) in length. Males tend to become very pink in color by the time they are mature, although females may have slightly duller coloration. While males are more of a metallic pink color, females are described as more of a grayish pink color. Brazilian Pink Tarantulas are native to the warm, humid climates of the Amazon rainforest. Often kept as pets, they are truly beautiful creatures. |
