The Australian Tiffanie, or Austiff, evolved from the Burmilla breeding program. The base stock is Chinchilla, Burmese and Silver Exotic. The aim of the breeding program was to produce a cat that has all the beauty of the old-style longer-nosed Chinchilla Persian combined with the outgoing, affectionate personality of the Burmese. For those who love the Chinchilla look (but don't want the high maintenance) and those who love the Burmese (but want a mellower cat) the Australian Tiffanie is perfect. The popularity of the Australian Tiffanie is growing; this breed has even been featured on television. Their rise in popularity may be due to the fact that they meet the needs of those who love exquisite beauty combined with personality. They do require regular grooming a good comb through every 3 or 4 days. The Austiff is very similar in look to the old-style Chinchilla with a magnificent semi-longhair silver coat - tipped or shaded in colors of black, blue, brown, chocolate and lilac. It is a medium sized cat - muscular and compact. The eyes are a main feature - clear luminous green, lined with matching color to the tipping on the coat giving the effect of being lined in mascara. The tail is full and plumed and there is a noticeable ruff around the neck giving the cat, when adult, a look of strength and presence with its striking ethereal beauty. The Australian Tiffanie should not be confused with the North American Tiffany or the European Tiffanie. It has a different 'look' and a different breeding program, being bred to look more like the Chinchilla lineage rather than the Burmese. The Silvertails Cat Club of Australasia is carefully monitoring the Austiff's breeding program. Most breeders are keen to export to many parts of the world and will arrange transportation. Kittens have been adopted in North America, Hawaii, New Zealand and all states in Australia. Silvertails Cat Club breeders are a small group of dedicated and experienced breeders committed to developing the breed to the highest standard each breeder being required to offer a health and genetic warranty with the adoption of every kitten. All stock used in the program has been fully tested and cleared of any 'nasties' as well as Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). |
