The Braque Dupuy is the tallest of the French Braque (others include the Braque D'Auvergne, the Braque D'Ariege, Braque du Borbonnais, and Braque St. Germain) breeds. Braque Dupuy are excellent gundogs for hunting over wide-open terrain and plains areas. Braque Dupuy are intelligent and very good-looking dogs. Appearance-wise, they look and act very much like hounds. Adult Braque Dupuy will weigh between 45 and 65 pounds and will grow to a height between 25 and 27 inches. Its coat is short, smooth, and very fine. Acceptable coat colors are white with reddish-brown, "liver," or orange marks. Its ears are solid-colored. Braque Dupuy are believed to have lived in Poitou in the early 19th century. Its exact origin is unknown. One theory is that the Braque Dupuy is named after the breeders who originally created the breed. |
