This care sheet concerns the general care of raptors. Birds that fall into this category are birds of prey, often kept by avian enthusiasts like falconers. A great number of captive raptors are also wild birds that have become injured and can no longer survive in the wild. The more commonly known types of raptor are hawks, falcons, vultures, eagles, and owls. However, carnivorous birds like Secretary birds and Kookaburras also fall into this category.
Although the care of many of these birds is similar, some species may have different care requirements or special needs which you must meet in order to keep your bird in perfect health.
